Since the dawn of recorded history, China has offered a fertile spiritual climate for a wide range of religions and belief systems, producing Confucianism and Taoism while nurturing ancestor worship, Mahayana Buddhism, and, in a smaller proportion, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity.
